Future of “XLeague Masters” uncertain

According to the Board, it is rather unlikely that the “XLeague Masters” will return in 2026 after the 2025 edition was discontinued after its third double round-robin.

Board spokesman Harry, whose back injury had led to a month-long suspension of play, said that setting up a second XLeague tournament was probably a mistake in the first place.

“By cutting playing distances of some ranking tournaments and cancelling two double-threats, we got ourselves some vacant weekends,” Harry said. “My injury painfully showed that we better cherish the free spots on the calendar as they give us valuable flexibility in the season’s scheduling in case something happens.”

Due to above developments, the “2025 XLeague Championship” has been renamed 2025 XLeague. The distance of 4DRR+QS3+FS4 will remain untouched for this year unless the 2025 World Championship ends prematurely.

It is expected, though, that the XLeague format will revert back to 6DRR+QS3+FS4 in 2026 with the double round-robins distributed throughout the year and the Playoff Series to be played during the Holiday Season.

Grand-Prix sub-season to begin

According to the Board, the Grand-Prix sub-season shall start as planned on the coming weekend with the first two games of the 2025 GP Spring Series, scheduled for four games.

After the 2025 GP Holiday Series scheduled for eight games, the GP sub-season will have its climax with the second “Major” of the year, the 2025 GP World Series scheduled for 12 games.
