The Board has announced that the third double round-robin of the 2025 XLeague Masters will be completed today at Monday Night MÄDNess.
However, DRR4 and the Playoff Series have been cancelled, thus discontinuing the tournament after DRR3.
According to the Board, the table leader after DRR3 will be declared Round-Robin Winner as three quarters of the at-boards scheduled will have been played. However, there will not be an official XLeague Winner to be presented with the trophy.
Sissy (7-3) has the best chances to become Round-Robin Winner. She will keep her top spot on the table if she wins one of her remaining at-boards or Nici (5-5) loses one of hers. Only if Nici wins out and her Mom loses out, Nici will win the Round Robin on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Harry (3-7) can only move up to second place if he wins out and his froggy daughter loses out.
The scheduling of the bottom of DRR3 aims to have a player clinch the Round Robin Series by winning an at-board. Therefore, the first at-board played tonight shall be Harry v Sissy. If Sissy loses to her husband, the second at-board shall be Nici v Harry which, if Nici wins, may set up a decider between Sissy and Nici in the final at-board.
According to the Board, it is rather unlikely that the “XLeague Masters” will return in 2026. Also, the “2025 XLeague Championship” has been renamed 2025 XLeague. The distance of 4DRR+QS3+FS4 is likely to remain untouched for this year even though there is a chance that up to two DRR may be added if the 2025 World Championship ends prematurely.
It is expected, though, that the XLeague format will revert back to 6DRR+QS3+FS4 in 2026 with the double round-robins distributed throughout the year and the Playoff Series to be played during the Holiday Season.
The Grand-Prix sub-season shall start as planned on the following weekend with the first two games of the 2025 GP Spring Series, scheduled for four games.
