2024 XLeague to start this weekend

The 2024 XLeague season is about to start this coming Saturday with the top half of the first double round-robin (DRR).

The XLeague is the most prestigious double-threat event of the year and will climax in the Playoff Series to be played in the last week of the year.

Originally scheduled to start on Easter weekend with the first two DRR, the first DRR has been predated as a result of the 2024 World Masters ending prematurely.

Defending XLeague champion Sissy, her husband, Harry, and her froggy daughter, Nici, will play six double round-robins throughout the year.

Sissy wins 2024 World Masters!

“Queen” Sissy is the winner of the first “Major” of the season. On Sunday, she won Game 14 to finish the first-to-6 series and successfully defend the title she had won last November.

Under severe pressure by Nici’s three remaining pawns, Sissy fourth black pawn miraculously survived seven missed championship points.

Harry had his remaining pawns on the track and would have had good chances to draw level with Sissy if Nici had managed to kick Sissy’s fourth black pawn off the track.

World Masters to start this weekend

The 2024 World Masters is scheduled to start this weekend with Game 1 on Saturday and Game 2 on Sunday.

While Sissy will be trying to defend the trophy she lifted only last November, Nici and Harry are both eying their first “Major” titles.

Due to restructuring and starting this season, the World Masters shall be the first “Major” of future seasons.

The World Masters will be played under 3T+ rules and at a distance of “first-to-6 wins”. The tournament will mark the climax of the Masters sub-season.

Sissy wins Holiday Masters

“Queen” Sissy is the winner of the 2024 Holiday Masters after winning back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.

A day after regaining her confidence by pulling even with her daughter, Nici, Sissy produced a convincing display and clinched the first level-2 title of the year.

By the 90-minute interval, Sissy had already brought three yellow and three black pawns home in perfect order.

Trailing his wife and daughter by 1-2-2, it was a must-win for Harry and, certainly as a result of this aggregate score after five games, Nici and Sissy went softer on him than on each other.

Harry wins first title in 2024

Harry is the winner of the 2024 Winter Masters and the first leader of the 2024 Medal Race after winning Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.

“Triple Crown Queen” Sissy remains winless in 2024 but is certain to remain #1 on the 3T World Rankings for at least five more weeks.

For Sissy, Game 3 was a must-win as Nici and Harry had shared the first two games last week and were only one win away from winning the first-to-2-wins tournament.

It was not a perfect game by far for either player. Harry and Sissy were forced to bring home their respective first colours completely before having brought home the second pawn of their second colours.
