Starting in 2027, the XMädn season will be re-branded “XRace” and only feature the three triple-threat “Majors”, held simultaneously at the same projected maximum distances (first-to-7/19 games) and at the same level (3).
Preparatory triple-threat tournaments will no longer be held. Through these changes, all “Major” trophies will be presented near or at the end of the season.
The games of the double-threat XLeague shall be played in double-DRR time windows in April and August as well as in a late-December time widow for the Playoff Series.
History
Previous seasons, except the highly experimental inaugural season, consisted of the following three sub-seasons:
- Masters (3T+)
- GP Series (GP)
- Championship (3T)
Each sub-season featured three tournaments yielding points for the 3T World Rankings and the Medal Race, starting with two preparatory minor tournaments at level 1 and 2, respectively, and culminating in a “Major” at level 3 or 4.
The player leading the 3T World Rankings at the end of the season won the Medal Race and was presented “The Medal” as Player Of The Year.
Before the start of a new season, the reigning medallist determined which two players were to swap their allied colours to make sure the succession of play switched.
