Harry won his first ever “Major” title as he not only finished Game 12 of the 2025 GP World Series in first place but also clinched the bonus-GPP in third place.
It was only his third triple-threat title of his career and he snapped an unlucky streak of 13 ranking tournaments not won since he had won the 2024 Winter Masters back in January of 2024.
Due to his triumph, he moved up to second place past his froggy daughter, Nici, and behind his doll wife, Sissy, in both the World Rankings and the Medal Race.
Harry had made up a 14-GPP deficit over the previous two games and went into the final scheduled game with the minimum lead over Sissy and a 21-GPP lead over Nici in third place.
Sissy had a very promising start into the game. With YLO4 going on its first PWL for first place after only 44 minutes of play, she seemed determined to successfully defend the trophy she won in 2023 and 2024. Her second of seven PWL cut short ended about two thirds around the track and YLO4 never got in match-point position.
Harry got his BLK4 on his first and only PWL for first place after 64 minutes of play. Twelve minutes later, under pressure from YLO4, he converted his eighth match point on a “1”.
Knowing that their only hope to rescue the trophy would be forcing a tie for first place, thus triggering an extra game, Sissy and Nici started collaborating against Harry. In order to succeed, they needed Sissy to finish her colours in both second and third place and Harry’s green team dead last.
Sissy did finish her yellow team in second place. But for the third straight game, the die would not be helpful to her as she got nowhere near finishing her red team in third place. In fact, she had saved none of her red pawns when her yellow team was completed.
The die seemed to passionately love Harry against his collaborating opponents. His first PCWL started after 1:32 hours of play and he did miss six championship points at the end of his second PCWL. But two minutes before the two-hour mark, he converted his eighth championship point on a “1” to complete his fourth PCWL.
Despite losing the title, Sissy has now been the World Rankings’ number one for 1016 days straight ever since its inauguration. She is mathematically save to remain on top of the World Rankings until after conclusion of the World Championship.
For now, Sissy continues to lead the Medal Race but Harry will claim the lead if he wins the upcoming Summer Championship and Sissy finishes that tournament without a win. Also, it is highly likely that the 2025 World Champion, whoever it will be, will also win the Medal as “2025 Player Of The Year”.
