Sissy needed only 58 minutes to win Game 10, thus three-peating as World Champion at Monday Night MÄDNess.
Having won all three tournaments of this year’s Championship sub-season and five consecutive tournaments played under 3T rules dating back to 2024, Sissy remains the Queen of Championships.
After two consecutive single-game wins, Sissy took a 6-2-1 lead into Game 10 of the first-to-7 series.
Nici (RED1) drew first blood and Harry (GRN1) followed two minutes later, 12 minutes into the game. Sissy opened her account (BLK1) another two minutes later.
Unlike her husband and her froggy daughter, who were forced to save pawns of both their colours, Sissy managed to fully focus on black as her go-to colour.
38 minutes into the game, Sissy started her first PCL while Nici and Harry had saved one pawn of each of their colours. Sissy’s first and second PCL were cut short, the second just under five sixths around the track, while Nici (RED2) and Harry (VIO2) tried to stay in the game.
But two minutes before the hour mark, Sissy converted her fifth championship point on a “1” without significant pressure from behind thanks to the excellent blocking provided by her yellow pawns.
Having won five of six non-Majors, Sissy had already clinched her third “Medal” as Player Of The Year. But she was determined to not end the season without winning a “Major” after after having surrendered the World Masters to Nici and the GP World Series to Harry.
“Looking back on my career so far, I certainly would have had no reason to complain,” Sissy said holding the World Championship trophy in her hands. “But after two Royal Triple Crowns, it would have felt weird to end the season with empty hands.”
Harry finished the Medal Race in second place for the second consecutive year. Even though he won only one tournament this season, he is certainly happy that he got to lift his first “Major” trophy this summer after previously having lost 13 ranking tournaments in a row.
Nici won two tournaments of the Masters sub-season early this year, including her first “Major”, but has struggled with her triple-threat form ever since. Her win in the opener remained her only success in this year’s World Championship.
Since the World Championship ended prematurely after only 10 of a maximum of 19 games and the XLeague is not scheduled to continue before 13 December, it cannot be ruled out that the Board will announce another edition of the TripleAthlon to bridge the gap. An announcement is expected in the next few days.
