XMädn brings back TripleAthlon, discusses changes for 2026

As the World Championship ended prematurely and with the XLeague will not resume until December 13, the Board has decided to bridge the gap by bringing back the “TripleAthlon”, an all-around event featureing the three most common sets of rules: 3T, GP and 3T+.

Winning a single game under 3T/3T+ rules will score two points. If GP rules are used, one point each will be awarded for first place and to the first player to bring home both allied colors. The points target scheduled is 7 wherefore the maximum number of games will be 10.

Games of this non-ranking tournament will be played in the order of play changed for the 2026 season, thus giving the players the opportunity to prepare for the new playing situation.

The first two games are scheduled for the coming weekend. World Champion Sissy won the first edition of the TripleAthlon in 2024.

2026 Season

The new season shall feature the same nine triple-threat ranking tournaments divided into three sub-seasons (Masters, Grand Prix, Championship) as established since 2024 and shall also maintain their succession.

The provisional schedule for the 2026 Season will be announced in due time.

Allied colours

As “Medal” winner, Sissy has decided to keep her allied colours for the 2026 Season while her opponents will have to swap their colours in order to change the order of play from 2025.

Accordingly, Sissy’s allied colours remain yellow/black (3T/3T+) and yellow/red (GP). Nici’s allied colours will be green/violet (3T/3T+) and green/black (GP), respectively. Harry’s respective teams will be blue/red (3T/3T+) and blue/violet (GP).

Playing distances

The GP Holiday Series will be cut from eight to seven games scheduled in order to adjust this level-2 tournament’s distance to the maximum distances of the other two “Holiday” tournaments.

The GP World Series will expand from 12 to 13 games, thus adjusting this tournament’s distance to the maximum distance of the World Masters, the other level-3 “Major”.

XLeague

The Board has also confirmed that the XLeague will return as the only double-threat tournament. The tournament will return to one season under 2T rules for good after plans to play two seasons in 2025 failed.

For 2025, a Masters season under 2T+ rules and a Championship season under 2T rules had been planned originally. However, the Masters season was interrupted and later resumed under the “2025 XLeague” moniker while sticking to 2T+ rules.
