XMädn discusses further changes for 2026

Following the conclusion of the 2025 triple-threat season, the Board disclosed further changes for the 2026 season.

Last month, the Board had disclosed changes with regard to playing distances of GP tournaments and announced that the XLeague would revert to 2T rules for good.

The changes disclosed today refer mainly to the TripleAthlon but also effect the triple-threat season as a whole, the World Rankings and also the XLeague.

TripleAthlon / Season Finale

The all-around event featuring games of three sets of rules will undergo some changes and one major upgrade.

Starting with its 2026 edition, the TripleAthlon will be upgraded to the tenth ranking tournament of the season as the Season Finale, held at level 1 following the World Championship. The playing distance will be a points target of 7.

The order of the sets of rules to be played shall be 3T, 3T*, 3T+, etc. 3T* (Hybrid) combines 3T (Championship) and 3T+ (Masters) and was specifically developed for TripleAthlon tournaments, replacing GP (Grand Prix) within the scope of such events.

Players will use the same allied colours that they used in the 3T/3T+ tournaments throughout that triple-threat season.

XLeague

In order to make room for the Season Finale, the distance of the XLeague Round Robin Series will be cut from six (DRR6) to four double round-robins (DRR4). DRR1 and DRR2 shall be held following the Masters sub-season, DRR 3 and DRR4 following the Grand-Prix sub-season.

The Playoff Series shall remain unchanged in terms of its format (QS3+FS4) and its scheduling in the last week of the year.

World Rankings

Starting with the conclusion of the 2026 season, the World Rankings will include the results from the last ten ranking tournaments, rather than nine. By this, the World Rankings shall continue to reflect performances from the last 12 months.
