Start of GP World Series postponed as XMädn mourns Diogo Jota

The Board has announced that the GP World Series, originally supposed to start on Saturday, will not begin before Friday, 11 July. Further postponement cannot be ruled out at this stage.

Being die-hard Liverpool fans, all three players are devastated in the wake of the tragic passing of striker Diogo Jota and his younger brother, André Silva. Understandably, we all just don’t feel like playing joyful games at present.

Three-peat: Sissy wins GP Holiday Series again

“Queen” Sissy is the winner of the GP Holiday Series for the third time in as many editions as she held on to a slim overall lead (87-82-55) in Game 8.

Having won seven straight ranking tournaments played under GP rules, Sissy must be considered favourite to defend her title in the upcoming second “Major” of the year, the 2025 GP World Series.

Sissy went into the final scheduled game of the tournament with a seemingly comfortable 14-GPP lead ahead of Harry. The only way to stop Sissy from winning the title would have included Harry scoring maximum points and then Nici holding her Mom under 5 GPP.

The Board announced today that the start of the 2025 GP Holiday Series will be delayed until probably next weekend. Specific reasons were not disclosed but health issues of one of the three players are suspected.

The previously discontinued XLeague Masters (2T+/L) shall be resumed under the “2025 XLeague” moniker and return to its old distance format.

Back to winning ways: Sissy wins GP Spring Series

“Queen” Sissy scored big in Game 4 and again in the Extra Game to put behind a poor start into the tournament and win the 2025 GP Spring Series.

By successfully defending her title won in 2024, Sissy prevented finishing three consecutive ranking tournaments below first place for the first time in her career.

For Harry, the tournament ended in utter disappointment as he failed to finish a potentially championship-winning lap in Game 4 to end his long wait for a ranking-tournament title.

Future of “XLeague Masters” uncertain

According to the Board, it is rather unlikely that the “XLeague Masters” will return in 2026 after the 2025 edition was discontinued after its third double round-robin.

Board spokesman Harry, whose back injury had led to a month-long suspension of play, said that setting up a second XLeague tournament was probably a mistake in the first place.

“By cutting playing distances of some ranking tournaments and cancelling two double-threats, we got ourselves some vacant weekends,” Harry said.
