XLeague: Nici dominates top of DRR5

Nici stays in the hunt for first place and a bye for the Qualifying Round in the playoffs of the 2025 XLeague after two convincing to open the fifth of six double round-robins.

In the first at-board of the day, Sissy fought bravely to the end but her froggy daughter had the die on her side all afternoon. Nici converted her first match point after 51 minutes of play and to go 6-3 head-to-head against her Mom.

In the second at-board of the day, Nici dominated even more against her Dad who she had previously lost 5 of 8 match-ups. Harry soon found himself in a defensive situation as his froggy daughter stormed ahead 6-0 with the die still completely on her side. She needed 46 minutes to win by a score of 8-2, the biggest winning margin in XLeague history.

In the third at-board of the day, with hardly a realistic chance to leave third place over the remaining one-and-a-half DRR, Harry seemed to have accepted defeat overall. He skipped on two chances to stop his wife and actually seemed to endorse her on her PWL which she finished after only 34 minutes to win by a score of 8-3.

Having lost all match-ups against Sissy this season, Harry may be fancying his chances to survive the Qualifying Round for the first time in his XLeague career more if he faces Nici rather than Sissy.
