Sissy wins first ever TripleAthlon
25 November 2024
The unstoppable “Queen” Sissy extended her winning streak in 3T games to nine in Game 7 at Monday Night MÄDNess, thus collecting the two points she needed to win the first ever XMädn TripleAthlon.
Harry was keen to win the game to get in a position in which he would need only one point from Game 8 under GP rules to reach the points target (PT7).
Harry’s start into the game was promising as he saved two of his violet pawns, the second one after miraculously surviving severe pressure from numerous opposing pawns.
However, in his efforts to move his violet pawns, he failed to endorse his froggy daughter, Nici, who had a miserable evening and never got to save one single pawn throughout the game.
As she had done numerous times during the last six games of the World Championship, Sissy capitalized from her opponents’ tactical shortcomings and successfully moved her yellow pawns after overcoming adversity from “friendly fire” in the early stages.
Sissy’s first PWL started after 1:16 hours of play with her fourth yellow pawn a third around the track right on the blue “A” field but ended immediately as Nici threw a “6” for her blue team. Her second PWL ended only a sixths around the track due to “friendly fire” on her black “A” field.
Other than that, her black team mostly provided reliable blocking and helped disturbed Harry’s efforts while only lightly going after Nici’s pawns.
After 1:25 hours of play, Sissy converted her first championship point on a “6” for her fourth yellow pawn to complete her third PWL and finish the only non-ranking tournament of the year.
Final score:
Sissy 7, Harry 4, Nici 3
Even though the TripleAthlon is regarded as a success, there are no plans to install this event as a recurring ranking tournament. However, there might be a chance for the TripleAthlon to return as a non-ranking tournament provided the schedule allows at the end of the triple-threat season.
Ranking and non-ranking tournaments combined, Sissy won eight out of ten triple-threat tournaments during the 2024 Season, including all three “Majors” for her second Royal Triple Crown.
Nici’s only title came at the Summer Championship, thus ending a 366-day drought. Harry has not won a triple-threat title since opening the season by winning the Winter Masters. The Winter Masters and the Summer Championship, both level-1 tournaments, are the only recurring events that Sissy is yet to win.
As, dating back to the World Championship, Sissy is on an incredible nine-game winning streak in single games played under 3T rules, Nici and Harry will surely be glad that there will not be another 3T game before mid-August of 2025.
XMädn action is scheduled to continue on the second weekend of Advent with DRR5 of the 2024 XLeague.
